Nick Catel has been living, traveling and surfing in Chile since the early 1990's. He knows the coast like that back of his hand. Originally from San Francisco, he learned to surf in the serious conditions of Northern California. Nick is an excellent chef, having learned from some of the finest chefs in San Francisco.
Arriving in Chile to work in the aquaculture industry, he fell in love with the country, the people and its culture. After he discovered the vast potential of unexploited surf, he decided to start a surf adventure company in the late nineties. He also met his lovely wife of ten years, Soledad. He speaks both Spanish and English fluently, and can help teach Spanish to clients, or just act as a translator to help form friendships with the locals. Nick basically loves surfing, camping, and enjoying good company along the secluded Chilean coastline, so he figured this would be a good way to enjoy all three.

"When most people think of Chile, they don't consider the quality of surf. Those that do, either think of Pichilemu or Iquique which are the most popular and crowded surf destinations in the country.
Those are great locations with world class waves, but what most people don't realize is that Chile has thousands of kilometers of uncrowded coastline in between.
The beauty of our service is that you can experience this coastline in comfort and complete confidence. And better yet, just you and a few buddies. To me, that is what a true surf travel experience is all about."

Chile Surf Adventures is committed to protecting the environment and being proactive in supporting local and international organizations. We are contributing members to the
Save the Waves Coalition.
Save the Waves is an environmental coalition dedicated to preserving the world's surf spots. With some of Chile's most pristine coastline under threat from big industry, Save the Waves goal is to preserve and protect the best surfing locations in Chile, and the world and to educate the public about their value. Save the Waves works in partnership with local communities, foreign governments, and other conservation groups to prevent coastal development from entering the surf zone.

Additionally, we are members of
The International Ecotourism Society (TIES), an organization which promotes responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the environment and improves the well-being of local people. TIES works to make tourism a viable tool for conservation, poverty alleviation, protection of culture and bio-diversity, sustainable development and educational, as well as enjoyable, travel.
Community involvement, environmental protection, corporate responsibility... all part of the Chile Surf Adventures mission statement.
